Biography

By the middle of the decade she had moved behind the camera. She works as a producer and a director as well as a performer, which in the European market usually means running a small label rather than joining a large one: booking the cast, choosing locations, setting the schedule, and taking responsibility for the finished cut. Her own name functions as the brand, and the productions she controls are built around her rather than around a concept she has been hired to serve. That arrangement gives a performer a say in how she is photographed, which is not a small thing.

Her working life now runs on two tracks at once. She still performs, and she still directs and produces, and the balance between the two has shifted gradually rather than abruptly. The European industry she works in is small, seasonal and heavily dependent on a handful of distributors and platforms, and performers who last tend to be the ones who own part of the process. She also distributes directly to her audience through subscription platforms and keeps a public presence on social media, which shortens the distance between the production and the customer. More than a decade in, she is one of the few who made the transition intact.
